The world in which this story takes place

Delnar

The name given to residents of the Delnari Region. Also known as “Treehuggers” due to their proclivity to create intricate dwellings within the trees.

Delnari Region

Located in the southwest corner of the continent, the Delnari Region is densely forested and is home to the largest wood trade in Alphaesa as well as several bustling port cities on the ocean, where the trees have been cut back.

Kalita Ruins

Once a grand Keep, owned by a minor lord, this building about 3 hours west of Talmindu has since fallen into disrepair and is said to be haunted.

Kiaminsh Square

The name of the open market located in Telqar

Korth

A small bird-like omnivore native to the Delnari region.

Ludinth Region

The archipelago west of the Delnari Region is known for its abundance of fish and other seafood, as well as its superb shipyards. The Magyks Guild also calls this place home, with the Tower of the Gift located on Smelti, the third island in the chain.

Magyks Guild

All Magykers, from Initiates to the Grand Magyker are part of this guild, controlled by the Grand Magyker. They’re based in the Tower of the Gift and have smaller towers throughout all the Regions from which they can operate.

Tower of the Gift

The tower that touches the sky, home to the Grand Magyker, is located on Smelti, the third island in the archipelago that makes up the Ludinth Region. This tower is where Magyk Initiates first learn to control their power and bend it to their will, and where Magyk Apprentices work to earn their wands.

Well I'm almost a month into college now, and man does that slow down the writing process. Chapter One: Beginnings

Sars yawns, stretches, then curses as he falls out of bed. Ugh, lovely. Great way to start your 17 th birthday, isn’t it. “You okay, Sars?” His best friend, Tulm, lifts his head from his own pillow. “Yeah, just peachy. I simply fell out of bed is all,” he snipes back, then immediately regrets it. He is just trying to be kind, after all, him and his ever flowing fountain of kindness. “Sorry, I was just checking….” Tulm trails off, sounding hurt. Sars sighs, “No, I’m sorry, I’m just being irritable.” As always. “If you’d like I can Mend you,” the Life and Earth apprentice says. “Nah, I know the basic, I can do it myself.” “You know it’s less effective on yourself.” Sars doesn’t respond, not having actually known that.
